Probably closer to what it will sell for.

Now an LS motor is something that could be considered 'bearable'. An old carburetted SBC? That's just blasphemy. This isn't a Camaro, it's a 911. And if you're hellbent on replacing the flat six, replace it with something worthy and not a tarted up garden ornament.

Also, the owner can fit a new clutch, but new radiator hoses and fixing the speedometer is too difficult?

I'd prefer an LS of course. But the SBC I'm sure will go for a lower price. The body looks pretty clean and I bet it's fun to drive.

-Small Block Porsche

-Small Block

-Porsche

-Implying a 911 should be powered by anything other than a Flat Six.

Wasn't Porsche just getting into fuel injection in the 70s? I'm all for performance-improving tech, but contemporary FI vs. established carbs would be kind of like the early 2000s sequentials vs. an "dated" 6 speed...theoretically better, but not really.

Considering the 911 had about the power of a Miata back then, a small block swap should be a winner even if carbed. Of course, a direct injected LT1 would be the real way to go...

This is not about if the engine is more powerful or not. This is about the car being a Porsche and as such needs to be treated with the respect it deserves. So a garden-variety carbed SBC won't cut it.

Hahaha, I find this just lovely. I'd prefer a 5.0 just because, but whatever.
